Rev. William Ralph Painter has been the pastor of the First Assembly of God in Goldsboro since August 1981. A Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, Pastor Painter was educated at Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God in Lakeland, Florida, and received a B.A. degree and an M.A. degree at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Prior to coming to Goldsboro, Pastor Painter served in both Sarasota, Florida, and Greenville, South Carolina, as youth and children's pastor. First Assembly of God is his first senior pastorate.
Pastor Painter is married to the former Joy Blount, who grew up as the daughter of a pastor and missionary to the Philippines. Pastor and Joy have four children: Jonathan, who is married to the former Sharon Kennedy of Warsaw, North Carolina; Jacki, who is married to Major Jason Lollar, a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force; Jinjer and Jana are students at Southeastern University.
